About the Program

Meals on Wheels is a federally supported service under the Older Americans Act, designed to help older adults remain independent by ensuring access to daily nutritious meals, particularly for those who live alone or have difficulty preparing food.

Why It Matters

As we age, preparing meals or getting to the grocery store can become challenging due to:

• Limited mobility
• Lack of transportation
• Financial hardship

In Placer County, nearly 30,000 adults age 60+ face food insecurity. This may mean making difficult choices between food, medications, housing, or other essentials.
Meals on Wheels helps reduce that burden by delivering balanced meals directly to seniors who need them, whether short-term or ongoing.
