The Department of Aging estimates the following: 40 percent of seniors feel lonely or isolated; 43 percent of seniors feel some depression; and almost 50 percent of seniors are dealing with recent loss and grief. If we apply these numbers to SCR, it becomes clear that many of our neighbors are dealing with hidden needs.  SCR Foundation has pilot programs to help and support some of these needs.

For 2025, the Foundation has made a $40,000 grant available to eligible homeowners for Respite Care through the Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center.  Each homeowner has a maximum allocation annually.

Del Oro is a private nonprofit agency dedicated to improving the well-being of family caregivers. They offer services to family caregivers of adults with chronic and disabling conditions or diseases.  To be eligible for services, a client must be caring for an adult with a cognitive impairing condition that occurred after the age of 18, (such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease.), or be a caregiver for someone 60 years and over regardless of diagnosis who requires assistance with two or more activities of daily living. Visit their website, deloro.org, or call (916) 728-9333.

For 2025, the Foundation has made a $10,000 transportation grant available to assist eligible homeowners in Sun City Roseville. Western Placer Consolidates Transportation Services Agency (WPCTSA) and Seniors First administer the Placer Rides program. Eligible riders obtain their own licensed and insured driver. The driver is reimbursed monthly on a per-mile basis. There are no geographic limits on usage.  To be eligible, individuals must reside in Placer County, be 60 years or over, have a disability, or be low-income and do not have other transportation available.  Call (530) 880-9500 or email placerrides@seniorfirst.org.

Meals on Wheels. For 2025, the Foundation has also made a $10,000 grant available for eligible homeowners of Sun City Roseville. In Placer County, nearly 30,000 adults aged 60 and over do not know with certainty where their next meal will come from; food insecurity may reflect a need to make trade-offs between other basic needs, such as housing, utilities, or medication as well as a lack of transportation or limited physical abilities.  For eligibility, call (530) 878-5731 or visit seniorsfirst.org/senior-nutrition.

Call us at (916) 774-9040 and leave a message and an SCR Foundation volunteer will return your call.
